The first Conference on Economics and Society was held on 06-07 December 2023 at TEPAV, Ankara in cooperation with TOBB University of Economics and Technology.

The Conference on Economics and Society received a large number of applications. The submitted abstracts went through a rigorous refereeing process. In the end, the Conference was organised with the presentation of 27 papers.

The first day of the Conference started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Çolak, editor of Efil Journal of Economic Research and Journal of Economics and Society. Then Prof. Dr. Asaf Savaş Akat honoured us as a keynote speaker moderated by Prof. Dr. Güven Sak.

In the afternoon sessions held in parallel, Dr. M. Coşkun Cangöz chaired the session on Turkish Economy; Prof. Dr. Şiir Yılmaz chaired the session on Environment and Energy Economy; Prof. Dr. Serdar Sayan chaired the session on Poverty and Social Assistance; and Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Özel chaired the session on Gift Economy and Social Enterprises.

In the sessions held in the morning on the second day of the Conference, Gülbin Şahinbeyoğlu chaired the session on Monetary Policy in Turkey; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Belgi Turan chaired the session on Disasters and Poverty; Prof. Dr. Ergun Türkcan chaired the session on Political Economy and Economic Thought; and Prof. Dr. Nazire Nergiz Dinçer chaired the session on Selected Topics.

In the afternoon, the Doughnut Economics Panel was held with Prof. Dr. Cemil Tugay, Prof. Dr. Funda Barbaros, Aliye Yüksel, Gökçe Küçük and Dr. Pelin Özden as panelists and Prof. Dr. Koray Velibeyoğlu as session chair. Following the panel, Prof. Dr. Selva Demiralp honoured us as keynote speaker moderated by Prof. Dr. Timur Han Gür.
